Actions to Address Instructors’ Voice at NEIU

Last semester, the Senate formed the “Instructors’ Voice” Task Force to examine instructor issues and propose a course of action. The Task Force submitted its recommendations to the Senate in the second week of January 2013.

A Senate subcommittee is in place to organize the Senate’s response to the Task Force report. The subcommittee invites all instructors and members of the Faculty Assembly to share their views on the roles of instructors at Northeastern at two open forums, scheduled for the following dates:

Tuesday, February 19, 3:05 PM-4:05 PM, LWH 1001
Wednesday, February 20, 1:00 PM-2:00 PM, LWH 3020

The Senate also received a petition requesting that the Faculty Constitution be amended to include full-time instructors in the Faculty Assembly and to allow all full-time instructors a vote in department elections and unit matters. Open forums on the proposed amendment are being organized for March 2013 before the petition goes to the Faculty Assembly for a vote.
