Faculty Governance Elections Call for Self-Nominations

by admin on March 1, 2013

PLEASE NOTE THE EXTENDED DEADLINE: The deadline to self-nominate for seats in faculty governance is Friday, March 15 at 1 PM.

The Faculty Senate Elections Subcommittee hereby announces the Spring 2013 Faculty Governance Elections for councils and committees including and related to the Faculty Senate and Faculty Council on Academic Affairs, the University Council on Budget and Planning, the University Personnel Committee, and the Academic Program Elimination Committee. A list of open seats and election timeline are available on the Publications page of this website.

You may self-nominate for an open constituency seat, voted for by your college, an at-large seat, voted for by faculty in all colleges, or both. The constituency election is held first, and the at-large election is held after the constituency results are announced. If you have self-nominated for both a constituency and an at-large seat and you win a constituency seat, you will be taken off the list of at-large nominees.

Tenured and tenure-track faculty and chairs may self-nominate and vote for councils and committees with the exception that chairs and tenure track faculty may not self-nominate for seats on the University Personnel Committee

Instructor faculty may self-nominate and vote for instructor representatives from their colleges on the Faculty Senate.

Emailed responses are required for self-nomination. Write to Sabrina Guth at the Faculty Governance Office at S-Guth1@neiu.edu or FacGovElections@neiu.edu by Friday, March 15 at 1PM with the following information:

  • your name
  • your department
  • the council(s) or committee(s)
  • the type of seat desired for each self-nomination: constituency, at-large, or both

PLEASE NOTE: Ballots may also be submitted by campus mail.
